Well, as we kick off 2024 it’s time to start thinking about the International Builders Show. In recent years the show has merged IBS (the NAHB International Builders Show) and KBIS (the NKBA Kitchen & Bath Industry show) into one event known as Design & Construction Week. The show will be in Las Vegas this year from February 27th thru 29th. If it’s anything like last year there will be a very big turnout.
I will be there all week and hope to meet up with many of you. Here is a tip for any first time attendees. HAVE A PLAN! This is a big show and it can easily overwhelm you. You will have a much better experience if you review the schedule in advance and plan your week. Sign up for education programs, presentations and of course leave some open time to walk the show floor. And, most importantly, wear some comfortable shoes. You will do a lot of walking each day.
If you are attending please make it a point to stop by the NAHB Education Centrals. These programs are rapid fire, short sessions, that are held in fun and fairly informal lounge areas and they provide a great way to network with other builders, remodelers and industry professionals. I will be leading a Shop Talk titled “Free Estimates are Too Expensive” on Wednesday, at 12:30 and will also be hosting a presentation titled “Stop Relying on Change Orders and Allowances” on Thursday at 9:30.
