Director of Sales & Marketing at Bost Homes / Urbanist and Land Use Reform Activist

Son of Rex Bost, the founder of Bost Custom Homes, Evan grew up around custom home job sites and amidst large renovation projects at home. When he was 6, their family home was expanded from 1,200 sf to 3,000 on a rural dirt road in Wendell, NC. Throughout the teenage years there were summer jobs sweeping out large framed houses and organizing trim racks. In subtle rebellion, he decided to pursue degrees in Marketing and Psychology with no particular interest in construction as a career.

Fast forward beyond a few banal entry-level jobs and a try at urban agriculture, and he has joined the family business to bring Bost Home's digital marketing up to speed, as well as implement high-performance standards like HERS ratings and 3D framing scans for every home. Evan is now the director of Sales and Marketing at Bost Homes, which is an award winning luxury custom home firm in the Raleigh-Durham market. He guides clients through the initial sales and design process as a home design liaison, while juggling responsibilities in marketing, property management, project management, land development, commercial building development, and event planning.

An early interest in high-performance building practices codified in the HERS index and the National Green Building Standard have cross pollinated with interests in placemaking, travel, permaculture, community building, and urbanism to form Evan’s current philosophy on the housing industry: In order to build great homes, it’s imperative we build within a proper framework; a framework to provide community stability, equity, environmental stewardship, antifragility, and lovability.

With this philosophy in hand, Evan started the Housing and Development Summit in 2022 via the Home Builders Assoc of Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties to bring educational and inspiring speakers to the Raleigh-Durham area to discuss the changes we must make today to build better places. The attendees of these events include county commissioners, mayors, city council members, planners, consultants, developers, builders, engineers, and architects. Session #3 is in planning for early 2024 with a goal of hitting higher attendance numbers and spawning design charrettes within the communities we build in.

Evan just received his NC Building Contractor License in mid 2023 with aims to build an accessory dwelling unit in his backyard in 2024. Today he and his Wife Kelsey are expecting their first child and live in an older neighborhood just south of the forthcoming Dix Park in Raleigh.
